Dealing with his dad everyday had never been very hard, but lately it had become a chore that Brady no longer wanted to deal with. Though it had recently came to his attention, or he’d come up with the idea, that he could go camping, with or without the pack, to get away from his dad. It wasn’t that he was all about lying to his dad, but now a days it seemed like the only way to get away from him. No, it wasn’t like his dad was piling on chores or lecturing him about anything. No, Brady wished that was it. His dad was pushing for him to go see someone about his ‘suppressed emotions’, and what a load of crap that was. Sure, Brady didn’t like talking about the fact a vampire had killed his mom, but that didn’t make him mentally insane or anything. What the heck was the point in wasting all that money on a stupid quake who constantly asked “How does that make you feel?”!
Shaking his head, he continued his small search for equipment. In the Newton’s place, in Forks no doubt. Brady felt like he’d sunk pretty low this time, but he’d really needed to get some stuff quick. This place had just been the first place to come to mind. Not the best, but it would sure as hell do. Heck, maybe this stuff would come in handy in the future with the pack. Who knew, right? “Let’s see. Tent, check, lantern, check, sleeping bag, not yet. Okay,” he spoke softly to himself as he mentally went through what he needed. Turning with a shrug, he began looking for the sleeping bags. This was bound to take a while, but it would be great later. When his dad began to grain on his nerves a lot, then he could just pop into the conversation that he had to go camping with the pack tonight. Free as a bird! That would be just awesome!

“Get in the car!” Lacy yelled. She knew she was illegally parked on the side road but she wouldn’t be if her stupid little… “Callie!” “WHAT?” Callie shouted back confused she then turned around, “Hey Lace what’s up?” “Come on, we have to go…” Callie gave Lacy one of her famous ‘WTF are you talking about?’ looks, “Newton’s… we’re going camping tonight?” “We are?” Callie gave Lacy another famous look, ‘Wtf I don’t want to go!’ looks. “I told you this?” Lacy looked up through her long thick black eyelashes. She hated it when her sister didn’t listen to her, no wonder their mom and dad wanted to get rid of her. “Well… ummm… I have a project to work on?” “that’s bull…” Lacy then threw up her hands, “But you know what… I’m happy you have friends and stuff, and I’m going camping alone… See if you can stay with your friends all week kay?” “Really?” Callies eyes lit up. “Yea go ahead have fun… I’m going to go get stuff for myself… Because I was able to get the weekend off…” Lacy mumbled. She then drove off and towards Newton’s.
When she arrived there. She parked her car, grabbed her gorgeous new purse, stepped out of the car, closed the door, and then locked her doors. It was completely stupid to lock her car, she left the top down, so anyone could break into it… thankfully she didn’t leave anything worth stealing in her car… except her car. Yes Her baby, her beautiful 1997, red convertible mustang. It was practically new. It was her dad’s by the never drove it because he thought it wasn’t child safe enough. Whatever…
Lace Pushed the doors open and walked in. Oh Crap… Lacy had just realized she had no clue what she wanted, and needed… Okay… Lace just visual what you need… Lacy Began visualizing a camp scene… Tent… lantern… Sleeping bag, or blow up mattress… accessories… bug spray… eating utensils… food… That sounds about right… Satisfied lacy smiled and started her quest for looking for camping supplies.
She was able to find the blow up mattress quickly, and she chose the best one. Then there was the bug spray which was way more easier to get. She then turned the corner, and now was facing a back wall. Tents. Lots and lots of Tents… perfect. Lay began walking down the isle, until she found the perfect tent. as far as she could tell it was family size so it had to be huge… She stretched one arm out and reached for it.
She scoffed, Stupid tent why does it have to be up so high! she was two short even in her high heels… She set the mattress box down, and then place each foot carefully on it… Almost there-
“Oh!” Lacy felt one of the heels of her shoes pierce the box. uh oh… lacy stepped off the box and examined the hole… No one will know…
Lacy placed the box on a random shelf, hiding the holes she had pierced into it. No one will ever know… Lacy then moved on to plan B. Throw something at it and it will fall. Lacy Grabbed the bug spray, and then chucked it up at the tent box. The spray bottle bounced off and then began falling towards someone…
“Watch out!” Lacy shouted.

Looking through the few shelves for sleeping bags, Brady took his sweet time looking for the just the right one. His mom had literally been saving money his very own back account since before he was born, which was quite a bit now. Meaning, he had the money to buy all this stiff, and his dad had next to no say in the matter because the account was only in his name now. His mom had been smart enough to keep the account out her husband’s hands, but he knew it wasn’t for any bad reasons.
His dad had a habit of doing quite a few things that his mom didn’t quite agree with, let alone enjoy him doing. Gambling and drinking excessively were just two things, but now those problems weren’t factors. The man now just wanted to run Brady’s life, which including forcing therapy upon the teenage boy. Which made his bank account very nice for him. It gave him something he himself could only touch, which kept himself from blowing a gasket on his dad.
Pulling his fifth choice, Brady went with that one, which was a very great looking one that was think enough to lay on rocks with it and not feel a bump at all. Very sweet sleeping bag! Throwing that in the car also, he went over his list once more in his head. He’d gotten everything he needed so far besides a stand and blanket set in case it rained a lot that night. Walking towards the tend shelves, he looked up in surprise. Catching a bottle of bug spray just barely, Brady blinked towards where he assumed it came from and looked at a sheepish looking girl.
Rolling his cart so he was standing close enough to her to talk, he offered the spray to her with a friendly smile. “Thanks, but I have bug spray already,” he said with a playful smile, but just shrugged when she took it back. “I’m Brady. Do you need some help with your camping supplies?” Brady asked with a curious smile, and he waited simply for her response. Still smiling, of course.

It seemed like time slowed as the bug spray came falling down at him, all of sudden he caught it, it was a normal but at the same time.
“Thanks, but I have bug spray already,” he said with a playful smile, but just shrugged when she took it back.
Lacy giggled, even though it was one of the lamest things she had ever heard it was kind of cute.
“I’m Brady.”
“I’m Lacy, or just Lace for short. It’s nice to meet you Brady,” Lace smiled and held out her hand for him to shake. He was a cute guy, she didn’t know how old he was probably just a year younger then her.
“Do you need some help with your camping supplies?”
“Yea that would be great!” Lacy smiled, “When it comes to camping supplies I’m not the brightest crayon in the box…” yea she was still slightly a hillbilly Kentucky-er but she was dang proud of it! She cleared her throat and pointed a the tent she had thrown the bug spray at, “I need that tent! It’s the best one here!”
After he grabbed it She looked at him through long dark eyelashes and then asked, “what else do I need?”

Lacy seemed like a nice girl, and her accent just kind of fit her. It didn’t seem that hard to make her laugh, but he assumed it had to do with how he spoke, not what he’d said. He had to admit, her laugh was cute, and he kind of wondered why she was getting all this stuff alone. Odd for a girl to go camping alone, but he was used to girls asking friends to go with them. It was probably just Brady being stupid for thinking so.
Taking her hand, he shook it somewhat softly, but habit of firm handshakes wasn’t something he gave up easily. “Nice to meet you, too, Lace,” he stated smiling slightly sheepishly, and he was kind of hoping that he didn’t squeeze too hard. Though he’d loosened his hold from the get go, he wasn’t perfect about it, but that was from never shaking hands with girls. That was something he would have to work on.
Chuckling slightly at her words, he noted her accent a bit more than before, and he re-agreed with himself on the fact that it just kind of fit her. Following her point, he saw the tent she obviously wanted, but he again wondered if others were coming with her at the size of it. Why weren’t any of them there helping her then? Grabbing it down, he put it in her cart with a curious look, but just smiled at her waiting to see if she needed more help. “Well, what do you have so far?” he asked curious to know if she had stuff at home already, what all she had in the cart already, or what all she still thought she needed. It was all fair game for him to know if he was going to help her, and he assumed telling him would be the easy part. The way she looked at him was flirtatious looking, but he just smiled a slightly playful smile.

“Nice to meet you, too, Lace.”
He was very polite which she was surprised to find in a man. It seems now and days men didn’t care about manners, but it seemed he was raised pretty well or he wanted something from lacy. stupid dumb… she blamed her parents for the paranoia about men. They always warned her that men only wanted one thing… sex. He didn’t seem like that guy he just seemed like someone who truly honestly wanted to help her out. That’s a thing she liked so far about Forks, how almost everyone was polite… there was the apartment room bellow her and her neighbors. They always wanted her to keep quiet and to take control of her sister. She didn’t care she was glad her little sister had friends, she was glad that Callie was happy being here. Lace had to admit that she was surprised when she got the phone call about her sister… Her sister being troubling since lacy had left and asking Lacy to take care of her… She was even more surprised that her parents would let her have that much responsibility for her sister… what if (dare they think it) Callie turned out as a mini Lace? Which isn’t terrible… right?
“Well, what do you have so far?”
“Well I have a tent, an air mattress and…” She smiled and shook the bug spray bottle, “bug spray as you now of course know…” she took a short pause to think, “I need a lot more stuff don’t I?” She laughed. They continued on down the next aisle and her eyes wandered up and down the rows of endless items. There seemed to be everything a professional hiker/camper would need… hmmm… I wonder how much they get paid She imagined herself hiking through the woods, getting stuck falling over… a bear chaseing her through the words, and not pooh bear, more like a grizzly bear. A chill quickly ran up and down her spine as she thought of it, “Brady,” She kept her voice calm and collected, “Are there bears near by?”

Lace seemed to like that he was minding his manners, but he hoped she wasn’t expecting that all the time. If so he’d be bored out of his mind with hanging with her for more than a couple hours, and he really wanted to be himself around everybody. Sure, being polite was part of him, but he was hardly ever that way unless he was feeling really nice. Usually, Brady was just blunt and helpful, nothing too complicated. Smiling a grin that he’d often had on his face long ago, before the whole shifter and mom possibly being killed by a vampire thing began. No, he wasn’t happy after his mom died, but he was handling it a lot better than he’d been lately. Brady didn’t remember how he’d handled it, and he was sure that he probably wouldn’t have handled it quite so well if he’d known all he did now. Being a wolf shifter was hard enough to deal with, though he had it lucky cuz his dad already knew about it, but to make matters all the worse, a vampire, who the hell knows who, probably killed his mother right out from under his nose. Right before he shifted for the first time, too! That was enough to make anyone’s emotions a little whack, right?
Nodding through her list with a slight curious grin, he shrugged at her last question as it was more up to the camper how much they wanted to bring. It had little to do with need, but if she wanted to camp in comfort and safety, inside a tent, then she would be needed other stuff too. “Well, you should have sleeping bag, pillow, and just in case it rains, cuz it usually does, a stand for your tent, so you don’t get completely soaked, you know?” he explained simply, but shrugged once more after he’d spoken, motioning towards his own cart that had a stand and all other accessories in it. “It’s really up to you what all you wanna bring, but if you want we could camp near each other. I’ll help ya set up,” Brady explained with a smile, and he was being honest there. He really wanted to make sure she set up all right, but he also wanted to see how she did with camping in the woods.
It took him a moment to follow her words, and he kind of was expecting her to look scared by how her question was worded. Must be a lot more used to the woods than he thought, but that didn’t change his offer. “Naw, not usually, but there are the occasional deer, mountain lion, wolf, and other woodland creatures. Don't worry, though,” he explained with a slight grin, and he hoped she understood that he was being completely serious. The animals he’d just mentioned were hardly a problem for him, but he wanted her to know in case she heard noises during the night. Just simply letting her know there was no reason to panic.

Lace chuckled softly and then smiled, “yea that sounds great are you going alone? I mean I wasn’t originally going alone I was going to force my sister to come but she forgot… of course.” Lacy rolled her eyes. “Sisters… I guess that’s what they do best…” Lace smiled. Great I’m rattling I always rattle…
“Naw, not usually, but there are the occasional deer, mountain lion, wolf, and other woodland creatures. Don't worry, though…”
“That doesn’t sound horrible, the mountain lion sounds kind of frightening, but I think I can handle the cute little woodland creatures as you called them.” She teased and a big smile stretched across her face. She imagined her and Brady could be good friends. She smiled looking up and then looked back at him, “hey Brady how long have you lived here?” she sighed, “I mean this seems like the kind of place you would get stuck living here if your family has been here for generations you know what I mean? Like I’m originally from Chicago but I moved to Kentucky when I was really young… I don’t know why I came here… I hate the darkness… I lightning to, and it rains so much here…” Lacy went bug eyed and looked back at Brady, “sorry… I’m rambling… I tend to do that a lot…”
They turned down another isle and Lacy continued to ramble, “I always talk, I mean I talk to much people tell me… I just can’t help it, I was raised with talking all around me. I mean my family actually communicated, which is kind of odd…” Lacy shook her head, “sorry…” She laughed. Her family use to be so close knit but since Lacy left, the family grew apart and it really messed up her younger sister. Well that’s what Lacy thought at least… but Lace isn’t some sort of psychiatrist.

She seemed genuinely happy about the idea of not going camping on her own, and he had to agree that someone like her shouldn’t be out on her own. Though when she mentioned that she was going to go with her sister, he wondered if that would’ve helped at all. Probably not, but he wouldn’t say that out loud. Her rambling was kind of cute, regardless of her slightly noticeably Kentucky accent. No matter what he thought about her strength or weakness, he knew that her accent would get him either way.
His explanation didn’t both her too much either, but Brady figured she must just feel a bit too much relief of not staying in strange woods alone. That had to be it. Nodding to her, he smiled at her rambling still going on and on. “Yeah, I’ve lived her my entire life, and this place really isn’t that bad. It grows on ya, I guess,” he explained with a shrug. It really wasn’t that he was insulted by her dislike of his home, but it was more that he just didn’t like to hear it. Sure, his home wasn’t exactly Las Vegas, and he knew that. Regardless of all that, Forks and La Push were the best places in the world to Brady.
Laughing slightly at her rambling, he couldn’t help lightening back up. She was just too cute to be mad at, and he shook his head at himself. She was just too cute for anything, but he would hope that she wouldn’t flip out when it got dark outside later that night. “It’s fine, I don’t mind the silence to be filled. If it isn’t you rambling, it’ll probably be me,” he explained with a smile. He wouldn’t explain why that was however, but if she happened to ask, then he’d make something up. The fact was being constantly surrounded by others’ consciousnesses was just plain loud, and he never got a moment of silence when he was in wolf form. Which was quite a lot of the time. Plainly, it meant that everyday he was surrounded by voices that weren’t his own, and he was more than a little used to rambles of talk.

“Yeah, I’ve lived here my entire life, and this place really isn’t that bad. It grows on ya, I guess,”
“Oh! I’m sorry I didn’t mean to offend you if I did. I just seems like the place generations would be raised in you know? I think it’s nice actually to have family so close together. My family‘s all over the states you know? Like I have uncles in Chicago, aunts in New York. And I do like Forks, It‘s really peaceful here, and it‘s not some big busy city. I love nature. And you can get really close to it here you know?” She smiled at Brady.
“It’s fine, I don’t mind the silence to be filled. If it isn’t you rambling, it’ll probably be me,”
Lacy chuckled and then asked “So are you the big talker among your friends?” Lacy didn’t like to be the one to talk 24/7 but she didn’t like the silence more. So the only way she figured she could fill in the silence was with her talking. Lacy looked up at Brady. “How old are you Brady?” She asked. It was odd to just randomly ask that but Lacy was just a tad random like that.

She seemed surprised by Brady’s almost protective response towards his home. Her response was to defend herself, and she made it obvious that she didn’t dislike her new home. Lace was obviously just trying to say that she wasn’t used to this place. How long it would take her to get used to it was really up to her, but Brady wasn’t really upset about what she’d said. It was just that he wasn’t too easy with people looking down upon his home. No matter how boring the two small towns were, Brady still loved his home, and he hated it when anyone looked down upon it. They had no right to do so.
Smiling slightly, Brady nodded to what she’d said, and he shrugged at himself for being like he was. “Yeah, I know,” he said with a grin, but he just continued to look around as they walked trying to think of something else that Lace could get for their trip. Now that he knew they would more than likely be camping together, he was now thinking about what they both would need. It was just a question on who all would decide to show up during the night if Brady had rounds. That would be a good thing to happen with a girl in a tent next to him not knowing anything about shape-shifters.
Laughing himself, he looked over at her with a grin all his own. “Naw, I don’t usual have to talk much with my buddies. They do almost all the talking for me,” he said with another laugh, but he was almost positive she wouldn’t get exactly what he meant without him saying so. There is no way she would know he was talking about how they were inside each others head, and he never had to say anything at all around them for the most part. That was a joke she would never understand, but then Brady didn’t really plan on her ever knowing about what he was really talking about half the time.
Tipping his head at her slightly, Brady looked slightly confused at what she was needing to know about his age for. Did she wanna know because he didn’t act how old he looked? “Don’t know why you wanna know, but I’m almost sixteen,” he said with a shrug, but he just rolled his eyes slightly at his own thought process. It wasn’t his fault that he looked way older than fifteen, and he hated it when people disliked him for the fact that they’d assumed he was older than that. It was just stupid.
